4K Drone That Anyone Can Fly
The chief concern for beginner drone pilots is the risk of crashing. Skydio 2+ is a drone that anyone, (even first time drone pilots) can learn in an afternoon, creating dynamic 4k drone cinematography that would be impossible with any other drone.
Meet Wes (@blackhillsbuild)
My name is Wes. I love getting outdoors and spend a lot of my time offroading and overlanding in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I have a 1996 Land Cruiser that I have built up and recently started building a 2022 Nissan Frontier Pro4x. I love being able to contribute to the community I am involved in any way possible, whether that is giving build advice to people that need it or helping support causes I believe in.

Autonomy Made The Difference
I have some experience flying manual drones. I had a DJI drone before and ended up selling it. I'm constantly exploring by myself, and the lack of autonomy of other platforms on the market was never very conducive to my lifestyle.
Skydio has been a game-changer for me. The autonomous tracking (follow-me) has allowed me to capture the shots I want of myself, my vehicle, and the landscape in my area.
Skydio has programmed so much into the software of their drones, they can do just about everything, and they keep getting better with time (and software updates).
There were some obstacle avoidance tests on YouTube directly comparing Skydio to competitive drones and I was sold.

I did a ton of research on the overall drone market and came across Skydio on YouTube. There were some obstacle avoidance tests on YouTube directly comparing Skydio to competitive drones and I was sold.
During my first flight, all I could think was, “wow, that was easy!”.
Favorite Skill & Shot
I have captured some incredible aerial cinematography of my 96 land cruiser rolling down the trails from every angle imaginable. Being able to do both is super fun.
Lately, I’ve been using the KeyFrame Skill more and more to elevate my drone videography. I pick a flight path for my drone, set points, and then choose a speed for the shot and the drone does the rest.
My favorite shot I’ve captured was using the KeyFrame Skill. It starts with me walking toward my vehicle and ended with a clip of the sunset. I programmed that sequence in about 2 minutes and the drone did the rest of the work for me. Skydio is a drone that makes it easy for new and beginner drone videographers to capture cinematic shots with ease.
Final Thoughts
Make sure you record far enough back that you can crop into whatever format you need (often for me it is vertical for Instagram Reels) and still have your full subject framed correctly.
