As a content creator, Lane Womack has been a huge contributor to Skydio's video content output. Lane has been featured multiple times on Skydio's social channels and continues to produce high-quality and engaging videos with his Skydio 2. Although Lane is known for his wake surfing content, lately he has been traveling all over the U.S. to capture incredible videos/photos to share with his community. We're stoked to get to know Lane a bit more!
Brief Bio, tell us who you are and what you are most proud of accomplishing.
This is Lane Womack, I am a human being from Austin, Texas. I am most proud of putting myself to where I am, with a million doubts and having to pay for school, rent and bills throughout college. I really taught myself early on how to create a life for myself. I would consider myself a continuous novel who wakes up every morning to learn something new.
Do you have experience flying manual drones? If so, How has Skydio been different? Any stories you’d like to share?
I have great experience flying DJI drones and have really enjoyed the simplicity of the Skydio 2. Skydio is different mainly on tracking, the app experience, the flight modes, the AI identifying boats, cars, people etc.
Why did you decide to partner with Skydio and how did you get involved with us?
I originally searched google for a drone that would follow me surfing and found Skydio back in June of 2019, I then was one of the first batches in November of 2019 to start the experience.
What is your favorite activity to pair with your Skydio 2?
Surfing or Wakesurfing
What is your favorite video that you've shot with your Skydio 2, what do you love about it?
I have a few videos when I was surfing behind a boat on Lake Austin with the beacon in a ziplock bag, just a smile on my face because this was the craziest thing I have ever seen. Who would have thought you can autonomously film yourself via drone while surfing behind a boat? Not me.
What is your favorite Skydio Skill, Tip, or Trick to help other users get great content?
Throw it in Orbit mode or Motion track and do your thing. The best thing about this is I can then pull out my camera and get a second real time angle on a subject.
Where do you prefer to share your Skydio content and what type of content do you enjoy posting?
I share all kinds of content on my YouTube and Instagram.
Do you prefer to post edits/montages with music or raw clips?
Mixture of both.
Do you have specific music genres that you like to pair with your Skydio 2 content?
Somewhere between Odesza, The Beatles and Mac Miller
