About the role:

As a core member of our Inspection & Mapping team, you will build and improve the geospatial and mission-planning systems that power our autonomous drones. Your work will enable our industrial, enterprise and government customers to plan advanced aerial missions, visualize complex spatial data, and seamlessly integrate autonomous operations into their workflows. You’ll collaborate with Autonomy, Backend Infrastructure,, and Product teams to create robust, scalable, and intuitive systems.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Develop full-stack solutions using Python, TypeScript, and modern frameworks delivering robust backend services and intuitive frontend interfaces
  • Build and maintain secure, scalable APIs, services and integrations for handling large datasets and powering enterprise-grade drone operations
  • Integrate geospatial capabilities with autonomy systems and AWS cloud infrastructure for high performance and reliability
  • Collaborate closely with Autonomy, Product, Design and Field teams to rapidly iterate, integrate feedback, and deliver new capabilities
  • Contribute to code reviews, architectural decisions, and proof-of-concepts, upholding high engineering standards

What would make you a good fit:

  • 5+ years building backend systems; proficiency in Python, TypeScript, GraphQL, and AWS
  • Hands-on geospatial knowledge (PostGIS, ArcGIS, QGIS) and data visualization skills
  • Mission Planning & Robotics: Familiarity with decision making architectures for autonomous operations such as state-machine or behavior-trees
  • Systems Thinking: Capable of designing end-to-end solutions with performance, testing, and observability in mind

Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 - 240,000*.
