About the role:

Skydio is looking for a self-motivated Field Services Training Lead who is passionate about developing and delivering best-in-class technical curricula designed to certify technicians on Skydio Dock deployment and maintenance. We’re interested in finding someone excited to gain a deep understanding of our products and technologies, and even more excited about distilling that knowledge into a technical certification program.

Reporting to the Director of Training & Content, the Field Services Training Lead is an internal-facing role that will enable the success of our field-based employees and partners through the strategic design, development and continuous delivery of educational programming and skills training. This role collaborates closely with Skydio’s Remote Operations team, as the Field Services Training Lead will be responsible for translating deployment-related operating procedures and technical knowledge into professional certification programming.

In addition to office-based collaboration with team members, the Field Services Training Lead will attend on-location training on a monthly or quarterly basis. 

Location: This is an office-based position that requires 3 days/week onsite at our HQ in San Mateo, CA.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Develop and maintain curriculum and training materials for the Skydio Field Service and Deployment certification program
  • Train and certify employees and partners to become Deployment Engineers, Deployment Technicians, and Field Service Technicians
  • Assess trainee proficiency through practical demonstrations, knowledge checks, and field evaluations to identify areas for improvement
  • Monitor and evaluate training program for quality and effectiveness; improve and optimize as needed, incorporating new product launches and evolving industry standards
  • Communicate the impact and success of the program to a cross-functional audience
  • Know Skydio Dock products inside and out, and proactively seek clarity on areas of confusion that are of interest to our customers
  • Convey complex technical material in a concise and effective manner
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Customer Success, Support, Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing) to align training programs with business objectives and customer and partner requirements

What makes you a good fit:

  • Proven success in a similar role, leading successful technical certification programs
  • 3+ years of training and curriculum development experience
  • Experience training both hardware and software products, ideally IoT devices, robotics, or similar
  • Strong project and time management skills including the ability to plan, execute and deliver a very high quality training program
  • Experience with content development tools, including but not limited to Google Suite (primarily Google Sheets and Google Docs), Adobe CC (primarily InDesign)
  • Strong attention to detail, strong personal organization, collaboration, and time management skills
  • Experience working cross-functionally across engineering, product management, and marketing teams
  • Strong research skills including gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person and remotely with team members
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment with tight deadlines
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. 

Examples of training curriculum work is required.

Nice-to-haves: 

  • Experience using and training IoT devices
  • Experience with Notion or similar workspace tools
  • Experience with UAS and remote operations

Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of options, comprehensive benefits, and various incentives and stipends. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $130,000-$186,000.
