Head of Simulation Infrastructure

About the role:

Simulation is a core technology for Skydio - it is central to our development workflow and allows testing of our software stack in an automated, holistic, and scalable way. We are exercising our entire software stack end-to-end in simulation to ensure the reliability of our products. This includes simulating the vehicle dynamics, photorealistic rendering, generating artificial sensor measurements, emulation of vehicle software, and integration with our cloud infrastructure. As manager of the simulation team, you will drive the development and implementation of the core simulation layer and its integration with the Skydio software stack.

How you'll make an impact:

• Work cross-functionally to understand at a high-level how the components of the Skydio software stack work and what their needs for simulation are.
• Contribute C++ and Python code to our simulation system.
• Clearly communicate how the simulation team’s systems work to cross-team technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work across the software system to define the right interfaces for successful and configurable vehicle code emulation. 
• Work closely with other teams at Skydio to understand their simulation-specific needs in order to reduce iteration times and increase productivity.
• Be responsible for helping deliver mission-critical metrics to the executive team to drive major roadmap decisions.

• Experience with software quality assurance, in particular verification and validation testing
• Passion for infrastructure work: developing internal solutions, building pipelines and core frameworks

Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $184,000 - 245,000*.
