About the role:

Insightfully designed manufacturing processes and fully qualified supplier relationships are critical elements in bringing tightly integrated, sophisticated electromechanical systems to major markets. As a primary designer and executioner of Skydio’s Supplier Quality Engineering practice, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality assemblies & subassemblies sourced from suppliers in the region.

Your main role will involve creating and putting in place procedures, tools, measurement methods, and quality standards for best-in-class supply from in-region suppliers. You'll also collaborate closely with Hardware Operations and Hardware Engineering teams to enhance quality and test processes for system integration and performance at suppliers’ sites.

How you'll make an impact:

  • You will collaborate closely with internal & external partners to develop and establish exceptional assembly and quality procedures that uphold the highest standards, ensuring that our camera systems integrate seamlessly and perform optimally.
  • You will work closely with contract manufacturers to drive improvements throughout the product development process from prototyping to mass production. This includes implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, capacity and efficiency.
  • You will play a crucial role in developing & executing product quality plans as well as managing quality bring-up activities for new products at our manufacturing partners.
  • You will ensure lessons learned from prior projects are used to refine the quality management process and improve the quality of next gen products.
  • You will define, implement and facilitate real-time, ongoing data collection and reporting from suppliers to drive further improvements in product quality.
  • You will take the lead in initiating and driving corrective action on quality problems. This will ensure that the root cause of failures is identified and resolved, preventing similar issues from occurring in the future.

What makes you a good fit:

  • You are a self-starter with a desire to push Skydio products to the next level
  • You possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, excelling as a positive team member internally and externally
  • You have a good understanding of optical system components with at least several years of experience in lens and camera module production
  • You have experience with bringing up and managing suppliers in region.
  • You have knowledge of adhesive, epoxy or other bonding materials.
  • You have successfully used quality tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA), process capability control, Root Cause Analysis tools (such as 5-Why and fishbone diagrams), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to achieve measurable improvements.
  • You demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • You are willing to travel to suppliers as required (30-40%).
