About the Role:  

Skydio is seeking a strategic social and digital media expert to join the Communications team. This person will lead and manage Skydio’s daily organic social media presence and long-term strategy development. The role will report to the VP of Communications and work closely with the broader marketing team - especially the Demand Generation team that leads paid social - and CEO to develop Skydio’s brand voice and leverage digital properties to build relationships with target audiences. In this role, they will source, vet, and package organic social media content and campaigns that are engaging, differentiate the company, and bring to life the real-world impact our products are driving in the hands of customers who work in critical industries like public safety, defense, and utilities. 

This role is an individual contributor and will be based in the Bay Area with the ability to be in the San Mateo office at least three days per week. 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Be a results-driven strategic thinker who loves to brainstorm creative ideas to solve problems. 
  •  possess a thorough understanding of social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, etc.) and a proven track record of developing and shaping content that resonates with business leaders and decision-makers. 
  • Be a strong writer of both long-form content and short-form copy designed to engage readers 
  • Bring curiosity, out-of-the-box thinking, and proactive ideas 

How you'll make an impact:

  • Lead social media strategy for Skydio in partnership with key stakeholders; play an active role in managing our online presence and reputation; build actively engaged social media communities in support of our strategic agendas.
  • Manage the planning and execution of organic social media campaigns to deliver increased brand awareness, engagement, lead capture, customer acquisition, etc.
  • Manage and execute all steps involved in digital content creation – ideation, sourcing, narrative development, collaboration with the Creative team for visuals, publishing, distributing, optimization, and measurement/reporting (includes writing blogs and press releases, as needed)
  • Own community management and social listening with a keen eye to identify and act on both opportunities and potential issues 
  • Collaborate with the growth marketing team - including SEO and paid digital experts –to support fully integrated digital media campaigns
  • Lead the management, education, promotion and measurement of Skydio’s employee advocacy program to engage employees in storytelling efforts; support Skydio leadership and subject matter experts 
  • Conduct channel audits, benchmarks, and define goals/objectives/KPIs to measure against; leverage data, analytics and metrics to identify and communicate areas for optimization, improvements in messaging/creative and operational/cost efficiencies
  • Partner with our C-suite, creative and MarComms teams on events, campaigns, and company-wide initiatives
  • Create social media sharing toolkits in support of recruiting, partner marketing, and customer success.
  • Explore and experiment with new platforms, features, tools and techniques 

Typical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • 5+ years of Digital Marketing / Social Media Experience, preferably with an enterprise business selling HW to public entities (e.g., law enforcement and government agencies)
  • Experience communicating across major social platforms, leveraging both long and short-form written content
  • Ability to create and support marketing and communications plans, with an understanding of paid, earned, owned approaches

Compensation Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $124,500 - $158,000*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.

*For some positions the pay may be dependent upon the individual's regional location.
